What We Do

But God Ministries is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, that shares the love of Jesus Christ through building sustainable communities around the world. We are currently building two sustainable communities in Haiti and one in the Miss. Delta.
The first Haitian community is in Galette Chambon which is about 17 miles east of Port-au-Prince near Ganthier, Haiti. The second Haitian community is called Thoman and is about a two hour drive east of Port-au-Prince near the border with the Dominican Republic.

The community where we are working in the Miss. Delta is Jonestown, MS which is located in the northwest part of Mississippi about 12 miles northeast of Clarksdale.

How We Do It

But God Ministries operates in certain areas or SPHERES as we build sustainable communities in both Haiti and the Miss. Delta. These areas include:

S – Spiritual  We share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our two full-time Haitian pastors, worship services, Bible studies, Bible Schools, distribution of Bibles, including solar-powered audio Bibles, and one-on-one witnessing at our medical-dental clinic. In addition, we have built two church buildings that are used weekly for worship and discipleship. In Jonestown, MS we will partner with already established local churches.
P – Physical  We seek to meet physical needs through our medical clinics and dental clinics. In Haiti, the clinics are operated weekdays by our full-time Haitian doctors and nurses. In addition, we host medical-dental teams from America for week-long visits. Tens of thousands of patients have been treated at our medical-dental clinics. In addition, a beautiful playground has been built in Galette Chambon for children to play and exercise. In Jonestown, MS, we have a dental clinic and a medical clinic.
H – H2O  We have dug five water wells thus far in Haiti.
E – Education  We currently educate over 2,000 children in 7 schools in Haiti. In addition to tuition, books, uniforms, and school supplies, the sponsorships provide a meal every day at school. We began a secondary school in Galette Chambon in 2014, a secondary school in Thoman in 2015, and an elementary school in Mathias in 2017, a vocational school in Galette Chambon in 2021 and an elementary school in Malafie in 2022. In Jonestown, MS we own and operate a Montessori school with 39 students ages 2-5.
R – Roofs  We have built over 210 houses, including 44 houses for people who were living in tent cities as a result of the earthquake in 2010. In Jonestown, we built our first house in 2021 and are planning to build more houses in the future.
E – Economic Development  We have created dozens and dozens of full-time and part-time jobs in Haiti. Currently, we employ over 186 Haitians on a full-time basis. Job training and job creation are top priorities. Road construction and road repair have been undertaken to help with travel and economic development. In Jonestown, MS we have 14 full-time employees, and we have built a 4,000 sq. ft. Center for Economic Development that includes a loading dock, forklift, and work space/office space for up to 4 businesses.
S – Soil  In Haiti, we provide seed for hundreds of farmers, and we conduct food distributions for hundreds of families during times of drought or food shortages.

THOMAN, HAITI

In January 2015 we finished construction on a second Hope Center in the mountainous village of Thoman. This village is located about an hour’s drive from our current community. Approximately 6,000 people live in or near this village that has primitive housing, limited electricity, no running water, few jobs, and no medical care.

Children Many educational opportunities that have never been possible in this area are now being provided to the local children of Thoman.

The new Hope Center, like the first one in Galette Chambon, has a medical clinic, dental clinic, housing for an American medical missionary family, dorms for visiting mission teams, kitchen, laundry facilities, two rooms for visitors staying several weeks or longer, and eating/meeting space for mission teams. In addition to the medical-dental services, we are able to work with the Haitian people to provide new housing, jobs, increased educational opportunities for the children, clean water, enhanced agriculture production, and, of course, the Good News of the gospel.

We have hosted over 50 American teams each year in Galette Chambon and Thoman in the past years. These teams engaged in medical/dental work, construction, VBS activities, Bible Studies, worship services, pastor training, recreation, agriculture work, and other activities.
